Easter "Eggstravaganza" 2009 at Rock Ranch

Posted by Jeri Maxedon 2009-03-27
I am always on the look out for inexpensive (if not FREE) activities for our family to do together. (I'm sure it's the cabin fever I get by being a SAHM...LOL) I know there are many of you out there that look for the same, so I wanted to share is one place that I can always count on to have fantastic events for very little cost.

If you live in or near Georgia, you should consider taking your family to Rock Ranch where you can now enjoy the spring weather on this 1250-acre ranch dedicated to wholesome family fun. The Rock Ranch is a working cattle ranch owned by Chick-fil-A owner and founder S. Truett Cathy. Cathy purchased this ranch in 1989 with one simple vision in mind: He always had a passion for agriculture and wanted to instill this passion into his children as well as others. Over the years, that vision has expanded and in now wholly focused on the purpose of uniting families with the land and each other. Today they offer a wide variety of "agritainment" opportunities that cultivate life memories in a safe agricultural environment that fosters fun, education and growth. My friends and family have been enjoying this beautiful ranch for various activities for many years, but just recently I discovered their web site and their calendar of events.

Our next visit will be for their Easter celebration. The Rock Ranch "Easter Eggstravaganza" will be held Saturday April 4 from 11am to 2pm. Admission is free! For this special event, you may bring a picnic lunch, or you may choose to purchase lunch at The Chuck Wagon Cafe' (concessions area). They will be serving hot dog meals and Chick-fil-A Ice Dream. Over 16,000 Easter Eggs will be hidden and there will be egg hunts for 5 age divisions: Under 2, Age 2 and 3, age 4 to 6, age 7 to 12 and age 13 and up (adults are welcome to hunt eggs). Be sure to bring your camera to take family photos with The Easter Bunny. Children's Book author and story teller Harvey Wilson will be providing entertainment as he shares "bunny tales" (Easter themed stories). The Rock Country Store (gift shop) will be open and, in addition to toys and gifts, it now features a year 'round Christmas store. If you have the opportunity to, I hope your family will be able to visit Rock Ranch and celebrate this most important holiday along with my own.
